Samsung Galaxy SIII Fake

Finally the fake Samsung Galaxy SIII had surfaced in China. From the picture above, the size looks almost identical as the real unit. The fake comes in 2 different models or at least I noticed that there are currently 2 different fake SIII in the market.

The lower end version (picture above on the right) is distributed by HDC manufacturer and the fake device is called HDC Galaxy S3. It comes in 4.7-inch display of 800x480 screen resolution. It has Android 2.3 Gingerbread and was promised to deliver Android 4.0 ICS as well. It spots 5MP rear camera and 0.3MP front-facing camera. The HDC Galaxy S3 is powered by a 1GHz processor with 512MB RAM. It also has a battery capacity of 2100mAh.
For those who are interested, I believe you can purchase it from android-sale.com.

The higher end version looks even more similar to the original S3. The device has a screen resolution of 1280x720 resolution (similar to the original) except that it is not Super AMOLED display. Device is powered by 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 1GB RAM. It has a rear camera of 8MP and a front-facing camera of 1.3MP. Internal memory of 16GB and its battery capacity is 2500mAh which is similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note. The original Samsung Galaxy SIII has only a battery capacity of 2100mAh.

Not forgetting the fake S3 is running with the latest Android 4.0.4 ICS. You can get all that with 271.50 USD. It comes with both Pebble Blue and Marble White.

    1. 1st rule of thumb: If the price is too good to be true, it is always NOT true.

The build quality of the fake is usually bad. That is the first observation that you can make without switching ON the device. The pictures shown in the above post would give you an indication on how the fake would look like.

Next, you can always check the IMEI with this link: http://www.numberingplans.com/?page=analysis&sub=imeinr

The other option would be to test out the S3 testing code. If it works, it is the real S3.

    1. if you're buying via online, chances are it'll be a fake if the price is too good to be true.
My advise is to have a look at the actual unit and personally feel and touch it. Follow the earlier comment I made above to identify.

    2. but how do you tell between the 2 fake galaxy's (high end and low end fake)if they both have a bad build quality how can you tell if its the high end fake not the low end fake? do the boxes have differnet markings do they have the fake phone specs or the actual galaxy s3 specs on them?

    3. If it's a clone device, usually the specifications will be mentioned in the boxes and it will be different from the original device.
We have to differentiate between a clone and a fake device.
A clone device looks resemblance to the original device but the specifications are different.
A fake device will show everything else being the same as the originals even the boxes and the specifications.

  8. what if i want to buy samsung galaxy s3 brand new, which is not been opened... my Q is that can i differentiate from orignal only by looking at its box? as the shopkeepr will deduce 25% money if i opened it and return it to him again... u got what i am saying?

  9. There are no codes to check if the product is genuine or not. The best way is to call the Samsung service center and check for the IMEI for confirmation.

There is no such thing as taking 25% deposit prior to opening of the box for final inspection before purchase.
Best option is to seek for a different seller.
