Jailbreak: WiFi Sync Review

Ever wanted to sync your iPhone with your iTunes without cable?
Now it's possible via WiFi Sync app. Unfortunately, Apple did not approve the app to be in the AppStore. Anyway, there is always alternative.. Cydia.
It's available in Cydia for $9.99.

It's actually quite easy to use. Almost as easy as sync via the cable.
After purchasing the app, you need to go to http://getwifisync.com/ to get the desktop version so that it could pair with your iPhone via WiFi.
Previously, it only supports Mac, now it supports Windows XP, Vista and even Window 7.
Once installed on your Mac or PC, just launch the app on your iPhone. Paring will start during the 1st time and it's very simple. In no time, you will be connected and ready to sync. Launch your iTunes and start sync-ing. It's really that simple.

The Good: No more cables. Possible to sync from a distance. Not limited by the 1-meter iPhone cable.
The Bad: It's takes slightly longer to sync especially when backup process is ongoing.

Android Ported to iPhone 3G

Take note, it's iPhone 2G, 3G and not 3GS.
It works only with firmware between 2.0 to 3.1.2.
Here's the step-by-step article written by David Wang.
Basically it's in a very early stage as power management is not done correctly, it doesn't sync and it will be a pain in the arse if you were to copy music into it.

Anyway, you can enjoy the video first...

iPod Touch with 2.0 Megapixel Camera?

Another leak from Vietnam. Apparently this time it's the iPod Touch with incorporates 2.0 Megapixel camera.
I just wonder if this was the much speculated iPod Touch with camera that was pretty much talked about during 2009 which Apple did not release for whatever reason..
From the video, it seemed to be a 64GB version.

Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3 and iPad 3.2

Today is the day that all the folks with the iPhone 3GS running on firmware 3.1.3 will be very happy.
The much awaited Jailbreak for firmware 3.1.3 with the latest baseband is now possible.
The jailbreak program is called "Spirit".
You can check out the official website: http://spiritjb.com/

Best thing about this jailbreak is that it's untethered jailbreak. You no longer need to connect to your computer each time you restart your iPhone. That's what I've been waiting for....
One thing to note is that it is NOT a carrier unlock. Spirit will only work with unlocked phone.

Steps to Jailbreak using Spirit:
Step 1: Restore you iPhone to firmware 3.1.3 via iTunes
Step 2: Download the Spirit program from the website stated above (either Mac OS or Windows)
Step 3: Connect your iPhone to your computer
Step 4: Run Spirit program and click on "Jailbreak"

Once this is done, you will see that the iPhone reboots and there will be a progress bar moving. When it's completed, iPhone reboots again and you're done. You have the latest firmware 3.1.3 jailbroken with Cydia installed.

Note: There have been lots of reports that Spirit erases the pictures in your iPhone. So make sure you backup all your pictures before proceeding on with Spirit Jailbreak.

Palm: Sold to HP ($1.2 billion)

Surprisingly, the new owner of Palm is HP. Very much deviate from speculator's perspective.
Could this deal spark new inputs from HP which is very much slow in the smartphone industry. What happened to the HTC? Weren't they suppose to be the front running buyer to this deal? Guess not..
According to sources, the deal was planned to close by 31st July.

Apple is US No. 1 Phone Maker

Finally, Apple had taken over the place of No. 1.
