Samsung Galaxy Note 2 - August 29th

Samsung had confirmed the earlier claim that the next generation Samsung Galaxy Note will be launch on 29th August 2012 in Berlin during the IFA event. This brings the competition right to Apple as normally the iPhone launching event happens somewhere in October. It was already reported earlier that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will be release in September but now it seemed like Samsung is pushing hard to release the flagship device even earlier to the world.

Just to recap, rumors are suggesting the Note 2 to feature an even bigger screen of 5.5-inch with a full HD screen resolution of 1280x720. Inside, we are now expecting a Exynos quad-core processor similar to the Samsung Galaxy SIII. Obviously, the Note 2 must be shipped with the new Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

[Rumor] Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Screen Size of 5.5-inch Confirmed?

courtesy of GSMArena

Samsung Galaxy Note next generation are expected to have a larger screen of 5.5-inch and a slimmer body. The current Galaxy Note is having a squarish look of 5.3-inch. The Note 2 is now expecting similar body feel of the Samsung Galaxy SIII. The device was earlier rumored to be launching in October 2012 which has now being carried forward to September 2012. Insider sources were saying that the earlier release was to avoid clashing with the next generation iPhone 5 release which is widely predicted to be in October.

The Galaxy Note 2 are expected to have 8MP camera with improved sensor (probably similar ones as the Galaxy SIII) and probably a quad-core processor with 2GB RAM. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean was expected straight out of the box as well.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Revealed

The much awaited next generation Samsung Galaxy was recently launched and from my observations, there seemed to be mixed feedback. Some thinks that the Galaxy S3 doesn't really have much improvements and some likes the new outlook. My personal opinion, the Samsung Galaxy S3 looks curvy on the edge if you compare to the S2 or Galaxy Note but other than that, the updates are all internal. This brings us to similar scenario that we are familiar with when Apple launches iPhone 4S after the iPhone 4. At least Samsung did something to the outlook. The S3 is only 8.6mm thick.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is powered by 1.4GHz quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM. I guess the most disappointed part of the S3 would be the display. The S3 has a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display with screen resolution of 1280 x 720 with 306dpi which packs slightly lesser dpi than the HTC One X (HTC One X has 4.7-inch display) or the previous Galaxy Nexus. It was confirmed that the S3 display is the PenTile display technology, similar to the Galaxy Note. For screen resolution as high as the S3, PenTile or RGB display does not make too much of a difference. In fact PenTile technology was said to consume lesser power. The S3 has a battery capacity of 2100mAh.

As for the camera, it has 8MP and 1.9MP on the front-facing. At a quick glance, there are no difference in terms of the camera hardware when compared to previous S2 or Galaxy Note. Samsung on the other hand concentrated to develop on the software part of the camera instead. With much hype over the new HTC One X camera capabilities, the S3 new camera software enhancements will give HTC a run for its money. S3 camera is now capable of Burst-Mode which captures 20 pictures at one go. On top of that, there is a feature called "Select Best Shot" which takes 8 shots at a single capture and automatically select the best picture out of the 8 shots taken earlier. It is also capable of 1080p video capturing with still picture capturing simultaneously. Though the still picture would only be a max of 6MP.
As for the front-facing camera, Samsung built-in a new feature call "Smart Stay" which will prevent the device from dimming the screen when a video call is being carried out.

Other notable new feature would be NFC capabilities as well as Samsung's new S Voice. If you ask me, that's the competition for Siri in iOS. Video below shows capabilities of the S Voice.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 comes in 2 color, namely Pebble Blue and Marble White. It has internal memory capacities of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. All models are microSD expendable up to 64GB. On top of that, Samsung provides free 50GB dropbox storage for up to 2 years.

[Rumor] Samsung Galaxy SIII Leaked Ahead of May 3rd Launching

Samsung Galaxy SIII purportedly shows up on Tinhte website from Vietnam. Here in the picture above shows the Model number of GT-I9300 which is supposedly the code number for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy SIII which is scheduled to be launched on May 3rd.

The next generation Samsung Galaxy is expected to feature a 1.4GHz quad-core processor with 1GB RAM capabilities. Screen resolution of 720 x 1184 with roughly 320 dpi and with the screen size of 4.6-inch, similar to Samsung Galaxy Nexus. At least the Samsung Galaxy SIII still be has external microSD capabilities. Camera would be the same as the current SII which is 8MP. It has battery capacities of 2050mAh and should come with NFC functionality.

Yellow man is also in the game now with the HTC One Series Pre-Order. With DG Smart Plan 88, you could own a HTC One X for RM1249 and HTC One V for RM299. Pre-Order now and get it delivered on 6th April.

Selling points of the HTC One X includes the 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 8MP camera with f/2.0 aperture. Audio featured the Beats Audio Technology and device powered by Android 4.0 ICS.
The outlook design somehow looked very plastic.

[Rumor] iPad 3 Now Being Rumored Not to Have A6 Processor, A5X instead?

As the days are numbered for the release of the next generation iPad, rumors are flying all over the internet regarding what would possibly be coming up in the iPad 3 hardware. Latest circulation from Chinese forum quoted that the logic board above would be the next generation iPad. From the picture above, it is clearly shown A5X. [Rumor] iPad 3 to Have HD Screen, 4G and Quad-Core (Bloomberg)

Bloomberg has recently releases a statement that the next generation iPad 3 will feature a HD display, 4G LTE networking capabilities as well as quad-core processor. This indeed is a perfect combination for the iPad 3 if one must say. It was also mentioned that the iPad 3 would be in full fledge production by Feb 2012.

"It's no surprise that the iPad 3 will have a better screen: The iPhone has long had the more beautiful "retina" screen, and a device like the iPad, meant for reading, should have one too. It's also no great shock that Apple would put a quad-core processor in there, especially given the positive reception of the Asus EeePad Transformer Prime. As you can see in the video below, the Prime appeals to gamers because of its quad-core processor."

Conservatively, I think we should only expect that the iPad 3 would feature a higher screen resolution and an improved battery life.

[Rumor] iOS 5.1 Features Quad-Core Processor?

Rumors obviously have to start from somewhere. This time around, folks at 9to5mac managed to dig up some fairly nice information regarding the next iOS 5.1 update. Somewhere somehow in the codes of the iOS 5.1, developers are hinting that the next generation iOS devices like iPhone 5 and iPad 3 would probably feature a quad-core processor.

In the core management software of the latest iOS 5.1 beta, people familiar with this states that the iOS 5.1 has a code option "/cores/cores.3

In the past,

  • /cores/cores.0 - refers to single core processor
  • /cores/cores.1 - refers to double core processor
  • /cores/cores.2 - refers to tripple core processor
  • /cores/cores.3 - refers to quad core processor
