iPhone 4G: The Real Thing

Seems like the earlier leaked picture of the new iPhone 4G is the real deal. News from Gizmodo is saying that Apple's software engineer left the prototype of the new iPhone 4G in a bar after drinking some German beer.
I wonder what is going to happen to that guy...

Further Info Leading to new iPhone release in June

AT&T is denying its employees from taking leaves in June signalling to the possibility of a new iPhone launching in June itself. Earlier than the previous launches which is normally in July.
Sources note that the only time AT&T denies its employees vacation leaves are during the launching of iPhone.
More and more information are suggesting a new iPhone launch in June 2010. There are also some rumours saying that it will be launched on 22nd June.
More pictures of how the new iPhone might look like.

New iPhone this summer?

Canadian Sakstel's CEO seems to note that there will be a new iPhone launching in the middle of the year. Similar to what Apple used to be doing for the past 3 years since the 1st launch of the iPhone.
I guess we will have to wait and see..

Could it look like this?

iPhone OS 4.0

The announcement of the much awaited update on the iPhone OS was announced in the iPhone OS 4.0 keynote yesterday by Steve and the gangs.
As usual, the rumours on Apple devices are most of the time true.
There were only 7 major items that were highlighted by Apple during the keynote:
  • Multi-tasking (only works on 3GS)
  • Folders
  • Enhanced mail app
  • iBooks
  • Enterprise
  • Game Center
  • iAd
I think we know what multi-tasking means here. I just hope that they are actually doing it much better than other mobile OSes does.
One thing to note is that Multi-tasking feature is already available for Jailbroken phones with 2 apps hand-in-hand. They are "Backgrounder" which allows you to run apps in the background and "Pro-Switcher" which has the effect like Safari or Palm Pre (card-style).
Apps running in the background with "Backgrounder" has a small badge icon at the bottom left.

Card-style switching from one app to another.

Video speaks more than pictures :)

Just to note again, the multi-tasking feature only works with iPhone 3GS models. Too bad for the older models probably due to the limitation of the older hardware on the previous iPhones.

Next item I would like to talk about is the Folders feature. Again, this is similar feature to "Categories" on the Jailbroken iPhones.

This is how it looks like in the iPhone OS 4.0.

As for the new possibility of changing wallpaper on the 4.0, it was already very much possible via Jailbroken iPhones with the app call "Winterboard". In fact, the Winterboard could change the entire theme of your iPhone.
Below is the example of the Winterboard on the Jailbroken iPhone.

The above are the several noticeable new features on the iPhone OS 4.0. Apple announced that the OS 4.0 will only be available in Summer.

iPad Summarized Details

The much talked about iPad is already in the hands of at least the Americans. Unfortunately for the rest of the world, we would probably have to wait till end of April 2010.
As announced by Apple, the first release will be the iPad WiFi model only. The 3G models will come later.

Major Specifications:
  • Screen display is 9.7" (1024 x 768) LED backlit
  • 0.68kg or 1.5lbs for the WiFi model
  • Battery could last more than 10 hours (higher than Apple reported)
  • 1GHz Apple A4 (reportedly by Samsung)
  • RAM size reported to be 2GB (Samsung)
  • 802.11n WiFi (Broadcom)
  • Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
  • UMTS/HSDPA (850, 1900, 2100 MHz), GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
  • 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of flash memory
  • Only standard 30pins Apple dock connector port. No SD card or additional USB ports

The iPad comes with 10W USB Power Adapter. There is only one problem with this, you can't charge your iPad directly from your computer's USB port. Simple reason, the USB port on your computer typically churns out only 100mA. There is an internal current sensing circuitry in the computer's motherboard which prevents excessive current above 100mA. This is to prevent overheating of the components inside the computer.
Unless you have a high powered USB computer, else use the power adapter that comes along with the iPad. It charges much faster than the high powered USB output anyway.

Till I get my hands on the iPad, take a look at the breakdown done by iFixit.

Enable/Disable iPhone Backup on iTunes

Have you ever been frustrated with your iTunes always backing up each time you sync your iPhone?
It's gets worst if you have lots of apps on the iPhone. Even though the backup speed improves compared to earlier iTunes, still it will take a while to sync.
There is one solution right now to disable the backup. You could enable or disable upon your request.
Best thing is.. it's FREE!

The program is called iPhone Backup Switch.
Just take note that you have to ensure that the iTunes is not running before executing the program.
The downside, it only works on Windows OS.
Click "Disable" to disable iPhone backup and "Enable" to re-enable the backup. That's very simple!

New iPhone Virus!!

Take a look...

BlackBreeze fixed iTunes 9.1 sync with Jailbroken iPhone 3.1.2?

I am not sure if this works everytime on everybody but it's worth giving it a try if you have updated your iTunes to 9.1 and currently having syncing problem with your Jailbroken iPhone.
  1. Firstly, you have to download BlackBreeze program from ih8sn0w website. ih8sn0w is the creator of this fix. But unfortunately, at the moment the fix is only for Windows OS. Doesn't seem to be able to find the Mac version of the fix.
  2. Click on the "blackra1n - iTunes 9.1 fix" to download the .exe file.
  3. Select blackra1n RC3
  4. Select where to save the fixed blackra1n RC3 program (blackra1n-fixed.exe)
  5. Execute the blackra1n-fixed.exe file and restart your device. This should enable you to sync your Jailbroken iPhone 3.1.2 on the iTunes 9.1
