[Updates] Steve Jobs Figurines - Apple Wins
It would seemed that Apple won the legal action to stop in icons from selling Steve's figurines.
In icons made an announcement on 15th Jan 2012.
Below is the full announcement..
"On 5th October 2011 Steve Jobs, the genius, great inventor and visionary, passed away. For the past 25 years I have been a big fan of Steve Jobs following his achievements religiously and using Apple products. His passing left me with emptiness, sadness and a feeling of great personal loss. (I am sure that these sentiments are felt by all of his fans) Four years ago I created a single figurine of Steve which I placed on my desk next to my Mac. I decided to share this memento with the rest of his fans as a commemoration to Steve. The figurine, especially his facial features, was adjusted countless times to achieve his likeness in my memory. I strove to perfect the figurine with the spirit of Steve Jobs because only this will properly reflect my respect and admiration of him.Source: in icons
I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate that the original intention for creating the figurine was driven by a fan’s admiration of Steve. We respect copyright and trade mark rights and therefore indicated on our site that we were not providing any Mac, iPhone and iPad models with the figurine. Further, we haven't used any Apple related brands. Unfortunately we have received immense pressure from the lawyers of Apple and Steve Jobs family. Regardless of the pressure, I am still Steve’s fan, I fully respect Steve, and his family, and it is definitely not my wish or intention that they be upset. Though we still believe that we have not overstepped any legal boundaries, we have decided to completely stop the offer, production and sale of the Steve Jobs figurine out of our heartfelt sensitivity to the feelings of the Jobs family.
We understand that this decision will cause many of the fans' disappointment, but please forgive us as there is no other alternative unless to have the blessing from Steve Jobs family… We will aim to have full refund to the fans who have pre-ordered.
Lastly, we wish to thank everyone for their admiration and appreciation of the figurine, and again we offer our sincere apologies to affected fans."

Steve Jobs Figurines
Chinese makers in icons has probably created the best lookalike figurines of the late Steve Jobs. The package of 12" Collectible Figures cost US $99.99 without shipping. Take a look carefully, it is also sold out!
Somehow in ebay, the price collectibles are sold at a much higher price of US $149.99 (start of bidding price) and it is also sold out!
It was also reported that Apple has requested that in icons to stop production of the figurines. Apparently, the name Steve Jobs was not in the company's registered trademark.

Sir Jonathan Ive
Apple's design chief Jony Ive has been awarded the title of knighthood in UK in the New Year Honours List. Jonathan Ive was born and raised in UK before pursing his design career in the US.
Walter Isaacon's biography of the late Steve Jobs mentioned that Jony Ive has special relationship with Steve and was granted more "operational power" than anyone else in the company.

Steve Job's Thank You Banner on Gat Lebuh Maccalum (Penang)
Found this thank you banner while I was on the way to work. At the bottom of the banner, there is a statement: "Your packaging specialist access". I am not sure if this is part of advertising gimmick or is "access" really a packaging supplier for Apple. Anybody knows?
The banner was found between the intersection of Pengkalan Weld and Gat Lebuh Maccalum.

Steve Jobs Biography - Walter Isaacson
Finally, the much anticipated Steve Job's Biography is here in Malaysia. Actually the official release to the book store was on 24th Oct and I managed to get mine on the 25th Oct from Times BookStore. Called up MPH BookStore on the 25th but were told that it were all sold out in all MPH BookStore in KL and Selangor. The book is sold for RM99.90 but you can get 20% discount by purchasing online at MPH online. Not sure if there will be a record selling again for Steve even in the after death.
Below is the excerpt of the book which I find it interesting to share:
Although Jobs cooperated with this book, he asked for no control over what was written, nor even the right to read it before it was published. He put nothing off limits and instead encouraged the people he knew to speak honestly. "I've done a lot of things I'm not proud of, such as getting my girlfriend pregnant when I was 23 and the way I handled that," he said. "But I don't have any skeletons in my closet that can't be allowed out."

Below is the statement from Steve's successor, Tim Cook:
Team,
I have some very sad news to share with all of you. Steve passed away earlier today.
Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.
We are planning a celebration of Steve's extraordinary life for Apple employees that will take place soon. If you would like to share your thoughts, memories and condolences in the interim, you can simply email rememberingsteve@apple.com.
No words can adequately express our sadness at Steve's death or our gratitude for the opportunity to work with him. We will honor his memory by dedicating ourselves to continuing the work he loved so much.

A very nicely done tribute to Steve. Joseph Tame, a marathon runner paid his tribute to Steve by making a 21km run across the streets of Tokyo in the shape of an Apple logo. He uses his iPhone and Runkeeper app in succession of mapping the run of the Apple logo.
Joseph had previously made art by running on a few other occasions which includes, Hello Kitty, his name, Twitter, Google..

Steve Jobs Resigns as Apple's CEO
Update: Tim Cook officially the new Apple CEO and Steve was made the 1st Chairman of Apple.
The sad day has come for Apple. Steve officially announces his resignation as the Apple CEO.
I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.
I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.
As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.
I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.
I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.
