Sony Takes Over Sony Ericsson. Renamed Sony Mobile Communications

Sony reportedly bought over the remaining 50% shares from Ericsson ending the partnership. It was reported that Sony spent $1.37 billion. Sony Ericsson is now named as Sony Mobile Communications.

Sony to Rename the Company Sony Mobile Communications and Accelerate Business Integration
February 16, 2012, Tokyo, Japan - Sony Corporation ("Sony") today announced that the transaction to acquire Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson's ("Ericsson") 50% stake in Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB ("Sony Ericsson") has been completed as of February 15, 2012 (Central European time). This marks the completion of the transaction jointly announced by Sony and Ericsson on October 27, 2011, and makes Sony Ericsson a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony.

Sony will rename Sony Ericsson "Sony Mobile Communications", and further integrate the mobile phone business as a vital element of its electronics business, with the aim of accelerating convergence between Sony's lineup of network enabled consumer electronics products, including smart phones, tablets, TVs and PCs.

Sony Tablet S - Finally Showing Sign of Selling in Malaysia

Talking about late, Sony finally announces registration of interest in Malaysia. Sony initially announces the Tablet S way back in April 2011. Eventually it gets pre-ordering started in the US sometime in Sept 2011.

It comes only in 2 models, 16GB and 32GB. Both only WiFi models. Take a look at the price again, it is the exact price of the iPad 2 with similar capacities. By pre-ordering, you will get a slip case worth RM139. Nevertheless, the shipment for pre-ordering will only start by 28th Feb 2012. A quick check on the Sony US store, both the models are having $100 discount which brings the 16GB price to $399.99 and 32GB price to $499.99.

Sony Tablet S Is Now Ready For Pre-Order

It comes in 2 sizes, 16GB ($499.99) and 32GB ($599.99) with a release date in 16th September 2011.
It was previously named as Tablet S1.

As for the Tablet S2, the dual-screen is still not yet released.

Sony Tablet S1 and S2 (Android Honeycomb 3.2?)

It was announced sometime back in April 2011 that Sony is also trying to fit into the tablet war with Apple, HTC, Samsung and the rest of the guys.
Current naming found all over the internet are Sony S1 and S2.

It is expected that the screen size for the S1 is 9.4"with a resolution of 1280x800. There is also a front facing camera right. The design looks a little awkward as it doesn't fulfill the usual tablet design.

Few buttons are shown on the side, ON, volume up/down and perhaps a slot for memory expansion. It is also spotted with a hard reset button which we don't see normally in the tablet nowadays. Sony expecting problems with the Android Honeycomb 3.2 software? Maybe.. 

At the rear is the usual rear camera.

The Sony S2 spots two 5.5" display in a curvy design at the back. It looks very much like the Nintendo DS.

Sony does have a sense when designing gadgets but the usual problem with Sony is with the price. Take a look at the Sony P series so called notebook. It's sleek and nice design but the price is too costly. Hope that would not happen in this tablet case. Otherwise, it'll not stand a chance with the iPad or the Samsung Tab.
